Same good old monster list plus a few new horrific beasts

Being a fan of the famous Silent Hill series I can't wait to get my hands on a copy of the fifth title, or a demo for that matter. No SH game has failed me so far and Silent Hill V promises to stay true to the legacy of its predecessors. Turns out that the classical zombie nurses are back, after getting a virtual boob-job, so they would appeal more to the masculine public.

There's also a new beast to take on, the Schism, a humanoid... "thing", which has some sort of flower-shaped body part instead of a head. We couldn't distinguish the features of the zombies while running from them, but now, thanks to the quality of the next-gen graphics we're in for some hot nurse drooling. Usually, such beasts were encountered in the Silent Hill hospital (Alchemilla) and were easily dispatched by using a steel pipe or a gun if you were in a hurry.

No word on a possible return of the Pyramid Head, as he was simply the best monster I've ever fought in a game pertaining to the horror survival genre (unless you count the omnipresent Nemesis from Resident Evil 3). It's nice to see that things have evolved, since in the first Silent Hill games, we always wondered what the deal with those nurses was. Now, after seeing the movie that drew its inspiration from Konami's hit series, we know that the beasts are in fact the personnel of the hospital that hosted Alessa Gillespie, a diabolical little girl, the source of all trouble in that deserted town.

I've only seen a couple of 20-seconds long trailers and they convinced me that Konami has made its way into the era of next-gen consoles, as SH V will feature breathtaking sequences, like the one that features your character being stunned by a wheelchair rolling down the stairs. If Akira Yamaoka is once again handling the audio part of the game, count me in as a huge fan of the title.
