Don't know how many of you remember this but back at E3 Nox Audio introduced what was to become their first gaming headsets, the Scout being one of the two models presented back then by the City of Industry based company, and today, more than six months after this announcement the Scout headset has finally become available.

If you take a close look at the Scout, the first thing that you will notice is the two flaps, that Nox Audio says will secure the earbud inside the ear to hold the headphones in place while running, exercising or traveling, the company also praising its flat cables that reduce tangling as well as what seems to be the e “world’s smallest” send/end button.

But getting past all this marketing talk the thing that interests me most is how well do these actually sound, the Scout coming in with 6mm balanced armature drivers with 10 Hz to 26 kHz frequency response range, tuned to provide gamers with powerful bass, so these actually sound pretty good (on paper that is).

As almost every other gaming headset out there, this too is compatible with a wide range of portable gaming consoles and cell phones, an optional NOX Negotiator Universal Optical Gaming Adapter being also available to make this 3.5mm jack headset work with Microsft's Xbox 360 and Sony's PS3 consoles.

“When we designed the Scout, we were really focused on improving the overall audio experience by making a product for people who need a versatile headset to match their dynamic lifestyle,” said Julie Ma, president of NOX Audio.

“This is a headset people will use on-the-go, working out at the gym, running at the beach or just relaxing with some music at the end of the day.

It’s sleek, compact and doesn’t sacrifice audio for cost, while providing features comparable to those of similar products priced at twice as much,” a tough order to live up to if you ask me.

The Nox Audio Scout headset is available right now for $79.99 coming bundled with a carrying case as well as additional ear cushions.
