Recently, Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia has released a new software update for the Nokia X6, bringing the firmware on this device up to version 31.0.004. The new software for the Nokia X6 follows the previously released firmware v30.0.003, and is being delivered as a small update.

The new release reportedly includes a series of enhancements meant to offer a better experience to all users of the Nokia X6 device, along with other updates too.

Among a series of performance improvements, complemented by usability improvements, the new firmware update 31.0.004 for Nokia X6 is also said to come with updated Maps, a recent article on zomgitscj reads.

Nokia has been providing users with various updates for their devices, including new firmware versions for some of the latest smartphones brought to shelves, such as Nokia N8 or C7, and it seems that the company hasn't forgotten about its older devices either.

Those interested in downloading and installing the new firmware version on their mobile phones would be able to do so either over the air, or through a desktop PC.

If one opts to update the device using FOTA (Firmware Over-The-Air), he/she should type in *#0000# on the home screen, or head to the Device Manager to select Options, Check for updates.

To update the mobile phone via a PC, one would have to have the NSU (Nokia Software Updater) and/or Nokia Ovi Suite installed on the computer.

With the application installed (it works only on Windows PCs), one would need to plug the phone in using the USB cable that came into the package, then select the PC Suite option on the handset.

User's files and settings should remain untouched during the update, courtesy of UDP (User Data Preservation), but it is always a great idea to back up all data on the phone, just to make sure than nothing is lost during the update process.
