Nokia Siemens Networks was selected by China Mobile Group Beijing to supply Push-to-Talk over Cellular (PoC) solution in order to meet the needs of the Olympic Games that will take place next year in Beijing. Nokia Siemens Networks has already started to deliver equipment to China Mobile Group Beijing (CMBJ) and will provide a turn-key solution for the Chinese group, meaning equipment deployment and implementation as well as care and core planning.

CMBJ will be provided with a PoC server, List Management server, Presence server, management systems and IP blackbone. This way, Nokia Siemens enables CMBJ to offer the best worksite communications between mobile devices and dispatcher clients running on PCs. Not only Nokia devices are supported, but also any Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) PoC standard compliant phone, regardless of its vendor.

All services and products supplied by Nokia Siemens are fully scalable and can support tens of millions of users in just one network. Through the PoC sollution, CMBJ will be able to offer push-to-talk services with lots of features all over the network coverage area. The features include user priority, one-to-one and group push-to-talk, the capability to listen different groups at the same time, fleet management facilities etc. Connections between the PoC solution and the IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) can be established, allowing the creation of new services that use push-to-talk.

The head of the Data Business Center of China Mobile Group Beijing stated: "We have been carrying out testing and trials of PoC services over the past few years for major exhibitions and sporting events with satisfying results. We are looking forward to launching commercial PoC service and bringing an exciting new experience to users."

Zhiqiang Zhang, Head of Nokia Siemens Networks' Greater China region, said: "Nokia Siemens Networks is very proud to provide CMBJ with our PoC solution supporting the coming big event in Beijing in 2008. Our PoC solution has completed successful trials in Beijing, Shandong, Tibet and other provinces in China. The innovative solution opens up ways for operators to make cost-efficient use of their existing GSM/GPRS networks, explore the enterprise customer market, increase ARPU and improve customer satisfaction."
