Nokia Siemens Networks have presented their solutions for improving broadband technology for carriers and service providers. This took place at the Broadband World Forum Asia 2007, where several other mobile phone companies took part.

Efficient broadband connections have turned into more frequent requirements coming from all mobile phone service providers, especially during the last years. Even more, an estimate number of five billion people are expected to start using Internet through broadband connections by the year 2015.

Nokia Siemens has presented its solutions for providing more efficient Internet connections. Their main idea circles around the FTTC (fiber to the curb) technology, which uses copper cables in order to provide transfer speeds of up to 50 MB per second. This is part of the FTTx architecture and can be implemented through several technologies, including DSL, passive optical networks and Ethernet. The advantage of this innovative concept comes from the optimized installed base and growing revenues.

Nokia Siemens will also enable a smart radio network and site design which will lead to high service quality services. Furthermore, Flexi Base Station platform is the smallest and most efficient in the industry and will deliver highly efficient services to GSM, WCDA and WiMAX operators.

The leading telecommunications company has also provided solutions for mobile WiMAX and mobile broadband applications. This will enable operators with the best frequency for bringing mobile broadband to their subscribers at a convenient price. Their solutions might also find applications in the field of high quality mobile TV services. This can be done through the use of several complementary technologies, including unicast streaming, DBV-H and IPTV.

Nokia Siemens Networks is one of the main global enablers of communications services. It currently has a growing customer base in more than 160 countries. The company has defined best-practice processes, choosing from the existing models within Nokia Siemens the best ones that matched the customers' needs.
