Nokia mobile phone users around the world have now yet another enhanced application to enjoy on their handsets, as the Finnish device vendor has announced the release of an updated Nokia Point & Find solution. According to the Nokia Beta Labs, the new build of Point & Find comes around with a series of improvements based on users' feed-back, and also includes support for more devices than it previously did.

Starting with this extended support for mobile phones, we should note that Nokia Point & Find can now be enjoyed on the Nokia N97 mini, the Nokia 5530 XpressMusic and the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. All that the owners of those devices need to do is to make sure that their handsets run under the latest software solution delivered by the company, after which they can download and install Nokia Point & Find.

However, the Nokia Beta Labs also mentions that, in case the phones are not running under the latest firmware flavor released for them, users will receive the following error message: “Certificate error, Contact application / service provider.” This is one of the issues the solution comes around with, but, hopefully, it will be solved with future releases.

In addition to that, the new Nokia Point & Find comes with a nice range of other bug fixes and optimizations, so that it consumes less battery and that the real-time recognition algorithm is enhanced. However, the work on the development of the solution will continue, and future releases of Nokia Point & Find are expected to bring even more enhancement into the equation. More details on the service are available here.

Those of you who might not know already what Nokia Point & Find is all about should learn that it is a discovery service put in place by the company, which “enables people on the move to access relevant information and services on the internet, simply by pointing their mobile phone camera at real life objects. The service combines the first mobile augmented reality browser on S60 devices with a web-based content management tool that allows anyone to create and publish augmented reality experiences.”
