Nokia's N-series high-end mobile phones got a lot of exposure thanks to the release of the N96 model, a really sophisticated device that came to provide users with lots of ways of keeping themselves entertained, or of doing some quick work using the business functions the N96 delivered.

Customers in the UK have really taken a lot of interest in this model, which is why, consequently, all major network operators here picked up the N96. Now, PRLog reports that a new version of the phone is available on the O2 network for all the fans: the Quartz Edition.

The main difference between the standard N96 and the N96 Quartz resides only in the exterior aspect of the latter, as its name clearly indicates the color of the exterior casing. All the features, design and technology incorporated in the N96 are to be found in the Quartz Edition as well.

Basically, users that wish to stand out from the crowd with their mobile can get themselves the Quartz, whereas those who are simply looking for a state-of-the-art phone can stick to the black version just as well. Either way, the phone was designed to be like a little piece of jewelry, although it is not a device designed for fashionistas by any means.

The N96, either the black version or the Quartz, features a dual slide design, and has a 2.8-inch 16-million-color display. Users can slide the base one way to reveal the dedicated media controls, and the other way to access the numeric keypad. The dimensions are 103 x 55 x 18mm, while it also features a Carl Zeiss Optics 5 megapixel camera with video functionality, onboard GPS and rapid Internet connection.

Nokia N96 has a 16 GB storage capacity and runs on Symbian 9.3 OS, powered by 128MB of RAM. Other features are DVB-H TV receiver, stereo FM radio with RDS, office document viewer, media player (audio and video) and accelerometer.
