Espoo, Finland-based mobile phone maker Nokia should unveil to the world its first MeeGo-powered handset as soon as this month, if some of the latest reports on the matter are to be believed. The handset, previously leaked into the wild as the Nokia N9, is expected to be launched as the Nokia N950, while sporting the model number of RM-680.

The device has just received the necessary FCC blessings, and might arrive on shelves only a few months after the unveiling.

According to the FCC filing, Nokia asked for a short 45 day confidentiality period, which should end on June 24th, which means that the device should be unveiled before that date.

However, rumor has it that the phone would actually be unveiled in a week's time, or during the MeeGo Conference on May 23-25th in San Francisco.

One way or the other, we should be able to have a look at the official announcement and photos of Nokia N9/N950 before the month of May is over.

As the successor of the Nokia N900, which enjoyed a great success among enthusiasts, the N950 should be equally appealing.

The same as the N900, the new mobile phone would prove a great tool for developers, though it might not be launched as a true mass market device.

Moreover, some of the previous rumors on it suggested that it would be a flagship device, a true member of the company's Nseries.

In related news, we learn that Nokia is already shooting video commercials for the device, which means that a launch should be imminent indeed.

Moreover, it has been suggested that the handset would pack 4G capabilities, along with a touchscreen display, but no other details were unveiled.

For the time being, nothing is known for sure on the specs of this mobile phone, and we should wait for the official announcement to be made to learn more on it.
