Nokia's latest MeeGo smartphone, the N9 is expected to hit shelves in Switzerland on September 15 via Orange.

The carrier already lists the phone as “Upcoming device” and states that customers who wish to purchase the smartphone should check out its features and get ready for its launch on September 15.

It is unclear if the carrier will be taking pre-orders for the N9 anytime soon, but Orange is likely to announce it in due time, along with the phone's price option.

Unveiled one month ago, Nokia N9 will be initially launched in Russia on August 19th, soon followed by other European countries, including Sweden on September 23rd.

Nokia N9 comes with an unusual 3.9-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors support and 480 x 854 pixels resolution.

In addition, the N9's screen is protected by Gorilla glass and features anti-glare polarizer, proximity sensor for auto turn-off and accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate.

The phone adopts a minimalist look and strongly resembles Apple's iPod form factor, which creates both advantages and disadvantages for the end user.

Given the phone's unibody chassis, users won't be able to pull out the phone's battery, while the smartphone's photo snapper can only be controlled on-screen, as the N9 lacks a dedicated camera button.

Equipped with a single core 1GHz Cortex A8 TI OMAP processor, complemented by a PowerVR SGX530 GPU (graphics processing unit), the N9 will be the most powerful Nokia device available on the market.

Even though the phone packs 16GB of internal memory and 1GB of RAM, it lacks the standard microSD card slot for memory expansion, and supports only MicroSIM cards.

Nokia N9 boasts a superior 8-megapixel main camera with Carl Zeiss optics, autofocus, dual LED flash and video recording capabilities (720p@30fps), as well as a secondary front-facing camera.
