Good news for Nokia fans living in Italy, as the official Nokia Online store has listed the N8 smartphone, which is now available for pre-order. The long-waited arrival of the first Nokia device to carry Symbian^3 is coming to an end. Nokia N8 will be shipped in Italy at the end of September for no less than 469 Euros (aprox. 610 USD).

The Italian Nokia Online Shop also offers some benefits to those pre-ordering the N8 such as: customers will be among the first to receive the new Nokia N8; shipments will be made in order of booking; there will be 5 colors to choose from, all available as a preview on Nokia and Nokia Online Shop Store; throughout the period the reservation standard delivery is free; there's no need for payment in advance, as costs will only be charged when the device will be shipped.

Some of the highlights of the phone include: 3.5-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 16M colors (360 x 640 pixels resolution), Multi-touch input method, Proximity sensor for auto turn-off, Accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate, Scratch resistant Gorilla glass display. Nokia N8 is powered by an ARM11 680 MHz processor with 3D Graphics HW accelerator and runs the latest Symbian^3 OS.

It boasts an amazing 12-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, autofocus and Xenon flash. The bar phone comes with 16GB storage, 256MB RAM, 512 MB ROM, and microSD memory slot (up to 32GB), GPRS and EDGE class 33, HSDPA 10.2 Mbps and HSUPA 2.0 Mbps, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n (UPnP technology), GPS with A-GPS support (Ovi Maps 3.0), and Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP.

The high price of the smartphone is close to ridiculous, if we think of the much better Android alternatives, which are now on the market. Even though the official announcement stated an estimated retail price of 370 Euros, it seems that carriers decided not to go for a substantial subsidy of the device.
