Nokia Messaging for Email has just been announced as receiving an update from its maker, and those who own an S60 5th edition device can already enjoy the new software solution on their handsets, it seems. According to a blog post from Nokia Messaging Team, the update can be installed via the Software Update application on mobile phones, where it appears as the “Nokia Messaging 10.2.”

One thing that should be mentioned here is that, while the Software Update app will see the new solution as 10.2, all S60 5th edition devices will install it as 10.2.04. At the same time, the developing team notes that they are working on a client for S60 3rd edition mobile phones, and that it should arrive in a matter of weeks. More info on the matter will be unveiled shortly, so stay tuned to learn the news.

When it comes to the novelties the new software solution brings around, we can count: - Localized in 38 languages - Support for Destinations on S60 5th edition devices - Improvements to on-device-setup wizard - Deleted items folder now automatically empties itself, faster client deletions - Various bug fixes

According to the developing team, the Destinations feature should make users rejoice, as they can add a preferred Wi-Fi access points to the Internet Destination, or to any other Destination configured on the device, and Nokia Messaging will automatically switch to that access point when within range. However, it seems that further updates are also planned for the ongoing year, so the user experience delivered by the solution will be enhanced even more.

“We also have made several improvements to the setup wizard, based on analysis of where users typically encounter errors during setup. Another area we’ve made improvements is in deletion handling – the ‘Deleted Items’ folder will now automatically clear emails older than three days that it previously kept, and deletions are snappier in the client in this release. Finally, we’ve fixed a few nagging bugs including restoring “Send with Nokia Messaging” from the Gallery, and you can now properly attach files from the N97’s memory card,” the developers also note in the blog post.
