Three UK confirmed plans to offer the Lumia 710 several weeks ago. Today, the carrier officially introduced the smartphone, which can now be purchased for £199 (315 USD or 240 EUR) on PAYG (pay as you go).

Customers can also grab Nokia’s budget-friendly Windows Phone device for free on select plans. Those who don’t mind being tied by a long-term contract must commit to a 24-month £22 tariff, which will net them 500 minutes, 5000 SMSs, along with only 1 GB of data.

As much as Nokia would want, Lumia 710 is not among the most popular smartphones available on the market. Although this is the cheapest in the Lumia family, it appears that Lumia 800 is more appealing to customers at the moment.

The smartphone runs the latest mobile platform developed by Microsoft, Windows Phone 7.5 Mango, and is powered by a single core Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon processor, clocked at 1.4 GHz.

One of the downsides of the phone is the fact that it only embeds 8GB storage, which might not be enough for heavy users. The amount of storage cannot be expanded as the phone does not feature a microSD card slot.

The phone has a decent 3.7-inch ClearBlack capacitive touchscreen display, which supports 480 x 800 pixels resolution and 16 million colors.

On a side note, Nokia Lumia 710 is already available for purchase in the United States via T-Mobile USA, as well as Canada through Rogers.

The Nokia Lumia 710 is an ideal handset for people looking to take their first step into the world of smartphones at an affordable price. Three’s all-you-can-eat data offerings, available on both pay as you go and pay monthly, mean that all of our customers can enjoy all of the smart features without fretting about excess data charges,” added Sylvia Chind, head of handsets at Three UK.
