14 DAY TRIAL // Nokia announced that the beta phase for its Gig Finder application had ended. A stable and improved version is now available for download from the Ovi Store.
Based on user feedback and application usage, Nokia has made several enhancements to the application. The flow of the app UI has been optimized, as well as the recommendation engine.
The Gig Finder application, launched in January this year, enables users to search for concerts and other music events, and purchase tickets directly from their mobile phones. Symbian-based smartphone owners also benefit from relevant recommendations based on their location and music tastes.
The key features of the application include:
- Easy Search. Quickly find where to find the best concerts & other music events near you. Search by artist, genre, city, venue, specific date, date range or a combination of any. - Buy Tickets. Direct links connect your mobile to various ticket vendors to conveniently find the best seats & prices. - Smart Recommendations. Get recommendations for live events and venues based on your music tastes (profile & on device music library) and location. - Get Directions. See where the event is and how to get there with a direct link from Maps. - Start the Buzz. Share information about the gig to Facebook, SMS, or Email. - Download Music. Events link directly to the artist pages in Nokia Music Store / Ovi Music (when available in your country) so you can preview or download music before or after seeing your favourite artists live.
According to Nokia, the upcoming version of the program will include further enhancements, as well as support for more countries. Also, a version for Symbian S60 3rd edition FP2 is in the works and will soon be available for testing from Nokia Beta Labs.
Owners of Symbian S60 5th-edition smartphones such as the Nokia N97, N97 mini, X6, 5800, 5530 and 5230 can download Gig Finder from the Ovi Store. The application is available to users in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom (UK), and Ireland.
