Far Cry 3 might use the same name as the previous game in the series, but it seems that some of the core mechanics of the 2008 game will not make a return in this year’s installment.

Dan Hay, who is working as the main producer on the first-person shooter, has told Kotaku that the malaria pills system, which asked the player to do a number of side missions in order to avoid succumbing to disease, will not make a return in Far Cry 3.

He also revealed that the guns of the player would no longer rust, which means that it is no longer necessary to switch weapons in the middle of a firefight.

The buddy system will also be eliminated, meaning that there are no second chances for the gamer once he is shot down by his enemies.

One of the biggest problems in Far Cry 2 was that enemies constantly respawned in areas that the player had cleared and that will no longer happen in the sequel, where the gamer can be sure that he owns a space where he killed all the enemies.

A simple fast travel system has also been implemented in Far Cry 3 in order to make it easier for player to move to areas where they have a quest to perform.

The islands included in the game serve as settings for different game modes, with one of them linked to single player, another reserved for four-player cooperative game modes and a third one for Player versus Player matches.

Far Cry 3 will ship with a full blow editor, probably only on the PC, which will allow gamers to create their own maps and even a full island.

Far Cry 3 is being launched on the PC, the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 on November 28 in Europe and on December 4 in the United States.
