The PSP won't get a price in Europe just yet, as Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has stated that it can't make any announcement about such a measure, but that exciting plans are going to be revealed soon.

The PSP-3000 model has just received a price cut in North America over the weekend, taking its tag down to $129.99, after the PSP Go received its own cut at the end of last year.

As such, many European gamers have been awaiting news from SCEE about any change of price in their respective region.

According to a representative of Sony Europe, the branch can't say if a price cut will be made anytime soon, but it has stated that it has some exciting plans in store for the portable console.

"We have nothing to say at this time regarding the price of PSP within the SCEE region. PSP has been performing particularly well in Europe so far this year and we look forward to sharing some exciting plans that we have for PSP throughout the year."

Sony is preparing its Next Generation Portable, aka the PSP2, which will no doubt cast a big shadow over the current PSP versions, the 3000 and Go, when it finally appears.

As such, Sony needs to make the devices more attractive to the customers, and the best way to do that is by making a price cut as well as by launching new, lower-priced games.

The NGP will boast more powerful hardware, new features, including touchscreen and a trackpad on the back, and is going to be supported by a lot of third-party developers, including Epic Games.

The portable will be aimed squarely at the upcoming Nintendo 3DS, which will make its debut in Europe and North America at the end of the month, after already selling out in Japan during its opening weekend.

Until then, the PSP still needs to hold its own, so you should expect a price cut in Europe in the following months.
