South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics has decided to kill off plans of bringing to the market in the UK a Galaxy S II model that would pack 32GB of internal memory, some of the latest reports on the matter suggest.

While no specific info on what determined the company to take this decision emerged, it seems that things have been already carved in stone, and that an official confirmation on the matter was provided.

In all fairness, rumors on the possible availability of only a 16GB Galaxy S II model due to the higher cost of launching the 32GB version did surface a while ago, but this is the first time we learn that the company provided a statement on this.

“Kindly know that there are no plans to launch the Galaxy S II in 32GB model in the UK,” Samsung stated, a recent article on dialtosave reads.

The response comes from a member of Samsung’s Online Support Team, who also confirmed that the company would aim at launching NFC on Galaxy S II in the UK as soon as next month.

Unfortunately, no specific info on what the release of NFC would involve emerged for the time being, and it remains to be seen whether the company is considering the availability of two Galaxy S II models or not.

“In regards to your query on the NFC, please note that we have just received the updates that the NFC would be launched in the UK by June, however, we don’t hold enough information on the regions it will be available with,” Samsung reportedly noted.

The Samsung Galaxy S II was unveiled during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, and arrived on shelves in the UK about two weeks ago, via retailers. Wireless carriers in the country would also pick it up, stating with Three UK, which made the move last week.
