DICE, the Electronic Arts studio in charge of the various incarnations of the Battlefield franchise, is saying that it plans to offer a trial version of Battlefield 1943, the multiplayer shooter that will be released during summer on the Xbox Live Arcade service and on the PlayStation Network.

DICE is stating that the PC version of Battlefield 1943 will arrive in September. The game is set to cost 15 dollars and will offer players three maps on which to fight with a fourth one being accessible once the players manage to reach 43 million kills in the game.

The planned trial, which has no clear date at the moment, is being introduced to compensate for the lack of a beta period for Battlefield 1943 and enough content will be offered to convince players that the game is worth buying.

Fans of the Battlefield series need to be aware of the fact that 1943 will be more arcade-oriented than all the previous titles, with classes simplified so that anyone can understand how they work, and with maps limited to three to make sure that they quickly become familiar to gamers. Clans will not be supported, which might be a big turn off for some players, but squads can be formed in game to execute a limited range of orders.

The title is designed to be quick and violent, being, in a way, a premium variant of the Battlefield Heroes free to play game that Electronic Arts and DICE are also working on. Both games are put together with accessibility in mind, and Electronic Arts aims to attract as many players as possible to them.

The Battlefield franchise is also getting a new Bad Company game, which is set to offer even more world destruction paired with military humor.
