“Breaking Dawn” won’t shoot in 3D, rep says, denying rumors to the contrary

Though many fans dreaded the idea, a persistent rumor insisted Summit was set on making the final two “Twilight” movies in 3D. Confirmation that the saga will stay true to the traditional 2D formant is now available.

Since 3D is now the hottest means to sell movie tickets (both because of the appeal and because of the increased ticket fare), word had it Summit was thinking of maximizing profit on its biggest franchise by giving it the 3D treatment as well.

As such, rumor had it, the studio was looking into shooting the final two installments in 3D, a thought that did not really sit that well with many fans.

These fans can now breathe easy: Digital Spy has confirmation that neither “Breaking Dawn” film will be shot in 3D.

“Speaking to Gossip Cop, a representative for studio Summit Entertainment confirmed that the final two films in the series would not be produced using 3D cameras or technology,” the e-zine notes.

“‘Neither film is being shot in 3D,’ the rep said about the ‘fabricated’ rumor,” Digital Spy further notes.

However, that the films will not be shot in 3D doesn’t necessarily mean that they won’t be released in 3D because both could be converted in post-production and get double release, thus reaching to more screens, word online has it.

For the time being, though, fans can rest assured that “Twilight” will remains just as it was when they were first introduced to it in 2008: filled with gorgeous vampires, werewolves, some humans and in 2D.

Speaking of “Breaking Dawn,” another rumor that is now making the rounds regarding the final two films is that they won’t actually be as final as Summit would have audiences believe.

In other words, there could be more Twilight films even after “Breaking Dawn” Part 2, albeit in the form of a spinoff, as we also informed you a short while back.

As fans must know, Stephenie Meyer recently released a novella called “The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner,” which is actually a spinoff on “Eclipse,” the third original book in the series.

Because of the success of the Twilight phenomenon (books, movies and merchandise), Summit is considering making the novella into a feature film as well, word has it.

As such, it would be released after the second part of “Breaking Dawn,” making it the sixth installment and bringing the franchise into the year 2013.
