Award-winning new-generation mobile operator & social network aggregator Nimbuzz announced on Thursday the release of a new version of its client for mobile phones powered by the Symbian operating system. The main novelties the updated Nimbuzz solution comes with towards Symbian include pop up notifications and a full Twitter functionality.

“From today, Nimbuzz users on Symbian can enjoy integration with the world’s fastest-growing social network, as Nimbuzz incorporates a feature-rich Twitter client that includes Timelines, Direct Messaging, Searches, Trends and Profiles, and outperforms standalone Twitter applications. A groundbreaking world first for Symbian handsets is the introduction of pop-up notifications, notifying users of incoming chats and events, while the application runs in the background,” the company states.

While these features are the most important ones in the new version of Nimbuzz for Symbian, they are not the only ones packed with it. Other novelties also include kinetic scrolling, available now for the users of 5th edition touch screen phones, as well as a new layout for the chat screen and contact list, not to mention chat history and a direct link for those who would like to use the company's NimbuzzOut rate calculator for calls made abroad.

The new flavor of Nimbuzz is currently available as a free download for those willing to give it a try, and it can be found either at the Nokia’s Ovi Store, or on the company's website here. As the company points out, the new version of Nimbuzz for Symbian comes as “a centralized messaging client with the most comprehensive all-in one feature set,” including IM, VoIP calls, file-sharing, presence, location, profiles, and the new Twitter functionality.

At the same time, the company notes that Nimbuzz has registered an impressive growth lately, with more than 13 million registered users as of last month. Each month, Nimbuzz adds about one million new users, is available in a number of more that 220 countries around the world, and its active user base is of 30 percent.

Evert-Jaap Lugt, founder & CEO of Nimbuzz, commented: “We are delighted to announce the integration of Twitter with our new Symbian client. Nimbuzz for Symbian is by far our most sophisticated client and the only product available to offer users such a comprehensive range of features and such a complete communications experience on one.” Download Nimbuzz 2.2.
