Nexus S, the first smartphone in the world to arrive on the market with Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system on board, is nearing its official availability on the market in Canada. Samsung already confirmed that the new device would be launched on Canadian shelves soon, and now it put up a pre-registration page on its website.

Mobile phone users in the country interested in the purchase of the new Nexus S can head to the company's website here to register their interest, and to be informed on the exact availability of the device.

According to Samsung, the new mobile phone arrives in the country on the airwaves of various wireless carriers, including TELUS, Bell, Rogers, Videotron, WIND, Mobilicity, Fido and Koodo Mobile.

“Be the first to browse, play and impress,” Samsung notes on the said registration page.

The new Android 2.3 Gingerbread-based smartphone should hit Canadian shelves during the first week of April.

The specifications list of this device would include a 4.0" WVGA (480 x 800 pixel) Super AMOLED touchscreen Contour Display with curved glass screen, or an 1GHz Cortex A8 (Hummingbird) application processor.

Moreover, it would arrive on shelves with Near Field Communication (NFC), Wi-Fi 802.11 n/b/g, and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR connectivity capabilities, and Quad-band GSM: 850, 900, 1800, 1900, Tri-band HSPA: 900, 2100, 1700 and HSPA type: HSDPA (7.2Mbps) HSUPA (5.76Mbps) connectivity.

The Nexus S would also arrive on shelves with a 5-megapixels photo snapper on the back, with Flash, auto focus, and HD 720p video recording capabilities.

The specifications list of the new mobile phone also includes a 1500 mAH Lithum Ion battery that can offer up to 6.7 hours of talk time on 3G, or up to 17.8 days of standby time.

3.5mm headphone jack was also included into the mix, along with noise-cancellation technology, Haptic feedback vibration, Three-axis gyroscope, Accelerometer, Digital compass, Proximity sensor, or Light sensor. The handset measures 63mm x 123.9mm x 10.88mm and weighs in at 129 grams.
