Several days after the smartphone has been launched on the market, the Nexus S gets a more appealing premium version, which is now available in limited quantities. The new Nexus S Limited Edition is available for purchase for exactly $843.50 from Negri Electronics.

However, the Limited Edition of the first smartphone to run Android 2.3 Gingerbread doesn't come up with anything new in terms of hardware, apps or media. The only thing that makes it more appealing than the regular model is the replacement battery cover which is now covered with small Android logos.

Unlike the original's standard pattern, which might be considered dull by some customers, the Nexus S Limited device features an Android design on the back.

It is unclear for the moment if this is the work of Google, Samsung or a third-party company who thought to make some extra money.

Still, this might not be such a good deal if we take into consideration the original Nexus S' price of $529. This means that customers have to pay an extra $300 just to get a different battery cover.

Currently, the number of the units available is unknown, but it's less likely that this Nexus S variant will have too much success with so low a value for the money.

Nexus S Limited Edition is powered by an ARM Cortex A8 1GHz processor and runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform out-of-the-box. It comes with a 4-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors and 480 x 800 pixels resolution.

The device packs a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash, geo-tagging, touch focus and video recording capabilities (WVGA@30fps).

Other key features of the smartphone include: oleophobic display surface, three-axis gyro sensor, curved glass screen, HSDPA 7.2 Mbps, HSUPA, 5.76 Mbps, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity, DLNA function, 16GB of internal memory, 512 MB RAM, GPS with A-GPS support and Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP.
