Following its release in several markets in late 2010, Nexus S by Samsung, the first Android 2.3 Gingerbread-based mobile phone, is on its way to conquer the world, and should become available for purchase in Italy as soon as next month.

Google and Samsung went official with plans to make the Nexus S available for purchase on the Italian market some February, and also unveiled the fact that it would be priced at €549 when available.

The Nexus S is not only the first smartphone to pack the said Android 2.3 Gingerbread mobile operating system flavor, but also the first Android device to come with NFC (Near Field Communication) capabilities.

The second Google phone should provide users with increased performance capabilities, courtesy of a fast processor, and of that stock Gingerbread flavor it runs under.

The Nexus S should hit the shelves in Italy with a 4-inch Super Clear LCD screen on the front, and not with the 4-inch Super AMOLED display it was released on the market with.

The specification list of the device would also include a 1GHz Hummingbird application processor, along with 16GB iNAND internal memory.

The handset would also come with a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back with auto focus and HD video recording, as well as with a front-facing camera for video calling.

Other specs of the Android-based mobile phone would also include A-GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, and Bluetooth 2.1, 3G connectivity options (HSDPA 7.2Mbps, HSUPA 5.76Mbps) , or the said NFC support.

The smartphone would also provide users with enhanced multimedia capabilities, including support for Adobe Flash Player 10.1, as well as HD video playback.

The phone comes with support for a wide range of Google services, as well as for applications that can be downloaded from the Android Market. Nexus S measures 63 x 123.9 x 10.9 mm and packs a 1500 mAh battery inside. (via HDBlog.it)
