Mountain View-based Internet giant Google has started to push out a series of software updates for its “Google phones,” the Nexus One by HTC and the new Nexus S by Samsung. The newer device, which arrived on the market a few months ago with the Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system on board, is currently receiving the Android 2.3.2 software update, which reportedly weighs in at only 601kb.

Apparently, the “system update from Google contains important bug fixes,” at least this is what those who downloaded and installed it on their devices were informed.

Most probably, this is the major SMS bug fix that Google and Samsung announced a few days ago that would soon become available for download for users.

The software update might include some other enhancements as well, though the most important one would certainly be the SMS bug fix.

We should also note that this is the second software update that Google pushes out to Nexus S users in a matter of weeks.

The software update for Nexus S, sporting build number GRH78C, is available for a manual download from Google's servers here.

As for Nexus One, it was just updated to Android 2.2.2 build FRG83G over the air, the latest reports around the Internet note.

Apparently, this update, weighing in at 558kb, comes with important bug fixes too, though specific info on the matter lacks at the moment.

Unfortunately, the OS version on Nexus One would remain at Froyo, and no info on when might Gingerbread arrive on it emerged for the time being.

Google promised a few months ago that it would deliver the Android 2.3 Gingerbread upgrade to Nexus One users in a matter of weeks, but it did not make the move as of yet.

Those Nexus One users who would like to download the new software update manually, without waiting for Google to sent it over the air, should hit this link to download the file.
