Nexus S by Samsung, the second Google phone out there, is now available for purchase in Canada too, via wireless carrier Videotron, which is the first wireless services provider in the country to put the device on sale, though other carriers would certainly follow suit soon enough.

The Quebec-based Videotron has just put the Android 2.3 Gingerbread-powered mobile phone on sale on its website, which makes it the first carrier to make the move.

The wireless carrier lists the new device with a price tag of $529.95 attached to it in case one would like to purchase it contract free.

However, the company would offer the Nexus S on contract as well, at a price of $149.95 on a $40 monthly plan or more.

While Videotron might be the first Canadian wireless carrier to launch the new smartphone, TELUS would join the party too in no time, as the carrier already confirmed plans to launch the Samsung device today.

We should also note that the Nexus S would join the Nexus One by HTC smartphone on Videotron's offering, since the wireless carrier launched the first Google phone too a while ago.

A few weeks back, Samsung confirmed official plans to have the Nexus S available in Canada on the airwaves of most wireless carriers in the country, including major ones, like Rogers, Bell, TELUS, Fido, Koodo, Mobilicity and WIND.

However, no specific info on the availability of this device at each of the aforementioned carriers emerged for the time being, though it should not be too long before they go official with their plans.

For those out of the loop, we should note that the Nexus S arrives on shelves with a 4-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen display, complemented by a fast 1GHz application processor, and enhanced connectivity capabilities.

The mobile phone also comes with a 5-magapixel photo snapper with auto focus and video recording capabilities, as well as with 16GB of internal memory, NFC capabilities, and more.
