Nowadays, the external design of just about any product or device out there is almost as important as the level of functionality it provides, and for this reason, Hercules has just released the new XPS DIAMOND 2.0 USB Speakers, that deliver good quality audio in a very attractive external package.

Targeting mostly the female audience (according to Hercules' own statement), the new speakers from Hercules featuring a black lacquered finish, are somewhat diamond-shaped, and also pack an elegant, see-through base, all of which combine in order to deliver quite an interesting external look.

And all of this is meant to bring “elegant style and glamour to the music listening experience,” according to Hercules, although I guess only customers will ultimately decided whether this is the case or not.

As their name suggests, the new audio accessories from Hercules are USB powered, and this interface is also used for transmitting audio, meaning that the computer's audio inputs and outputs will be left free for other applications.

Additionally, it's also interesting to mention that the speakers are quite compact, measuring just 3.5 inches in diameter, and they're accompanied by a stylish black velvet carrying pouch (featuring separate compartments), which will allow users to carry them around in quite an elegant manner, while also delivering a certain degree of protection.

Naturally, Hercules also claims that the level of audio quality provided by its portable USB speakers is quite an impressive one, but this is something only thorough testing (as well as one's personal taste) will ultimately decide.

Last, but certainly not least, we'll also have to mention that the Hercules XPS DIAMOND 2.0 USB speaker kit is quite on the affordable side, given the fact that it will go on sale starting with April 2011 for an estimated retail price of just around 40 US dollars, which is quite OK, all things considered.
