Along with the launch of several new phone models, Sony Ericsson has also brought for the audience a mix of applications and services that make media handling a great deal easier on Walkman phones.

Sony Ericsson Media Manager allows the mobile phone user to organize music, photos, video clips and podcasts on the PC for later being transferred on to the handset. This software allows anyone to search music on their PC, turn it into mobile-compatible file formats and then transfer them on the mobile phone.

Media Manager replaces the previous software which came on all previous Walkman phone models and also brings several upgrades. Now, Media Manager makes sure that all files transferred from the PC onto the cellular are supported. Moreover, it allows the user to relate images to certain audio files and create a playlist with specific songs.

Moreover, a podcast directory is also included in order to make it easier to browse through media feeds and subscribe to some of them. At this time, only three handsets come with this software installed: W910, W960 Walkman phones and the K850 Cyber-shot one.

PlayNow version 4.0 is a quick access link which sits as a desktop icon. This provides a considerable amount of music tracks, games, ringtones and wallpapers in an easy-to-use menu.

TrackID is an innovative service which is meant to find that melody that you just could get out of your head for the last few days. With the recording of only a short clip of the song, this service is capable of recognizing the name of the entire melody.

Shake Control allows the user to handle the playlist and skip to another song only with one flick of the handset. Aside all these software upgrades that Sony Ericsson has introduced in their Walkman phones, there is also featured a new Media Browser. This enables the user to easily access music, video or podcasts over the Internet.
