Transcend's got a serious experience in the field of external and portable storage solutions and now, the company's back with yet another very interesting offering, namely the SSD18C3 Portable Solid State Drive.

The first thing that makes this storage solution particularly interesting is the fact that it comes packed with an USB 3.0 interface, enabling much higher data transfer rates on computers equipped with a suitable interface (up to 260MB/s, to be precise).

Naturally, the device will also be backwards compatible with USB 2.0 interfaces, but the overall access speeds will be noticeably lower.

The SSD18C3 Portable Solid State Drive from Transcend will also provide some pretty OK storage capabilities, since it will be available in two different versions providing 64GB and 128GB of storage space, respectively.

Despite of the fact that SSDs are some pretty durable storage solutions, since they have no moving parts, Transcend also added a couple of extra security features to make the SSD18C3 even tougher, such as a vibration-absorbing, slip-resistant silicone outer shell, set to protect the drive within against bumps and falls.

Also, in order to make things easier as far as the backup process is concerned, the drive from Transcend also packs an One Touch auto-backup button, that will trigger the start of a special software application called Backup Manager, that comes pre-loaded right on the drive and offers fast and easy access to the data sync and storage capabilities.

Plus, as an extra bonus, Transcend’s exclusive JetFlash Elite data management tools are also available as a free download for all customers who purchase the company's new portable SSD unit.

Since most Transcend products released to date are well within the realm of affordability, the same goes for their new SSD18C3 Solid State Drive, that will sell at some point in the very near future for around 224 US dollars (the 64GB model) or 448 US dollars (the 128GB version).
