But wasn't the question mark Midway's deal...?

Blizzard loves to tease its fans and do a better job at it than Rockstar did with their countdown timer for the GTA IV Debut Trailer. Up on the official site, the developer of World of Warcraft has posted a timeline for an upcoming... something, hinting at earlier game series. Check out the picture to the left.

After rumors of a StarCraft2 as a MMO in 3D emerged, Blizzard's response was:

"We do intend to announce a new product at the Worldwide Invitational next month in Korea, and we appreciate the enthusiasm and interest in getting an advance look at what that will be, but players will have to wait until May 19th to find out more. Also, we have a very strong connection with the characters and settings of StarCraft, and we do plan to revisit that universe at some point in the future, but we don't have anything new to announce in that regard at present."

Blizzard's "dismissal" of the StarCraft2 rumor didn't exactly convince the gaming world that it wasn't going to launch soon. After all, they didn't quite dismiss the rumor, but more "didn't confirm" it, trying to keep fans hoping. What else could they do, disappoint them? Anyway, I guess the image to your left can give birth to just about any rumor of a next installment for one of the games. So you'll just have to wait and see if you don't have a time machine.

However, there is something that didn't seem quite in place: the question mark. If anyone asked me what I thought about it, I'd say that it's a mug shot created by a fan of Midway's Mortal Kombat series, but then again, nobody's asking me anything. The question mark, although anyone can use it, is something of a logo for Midway's MK series. Of course, Blizzard and another dozen developers out there may use it to hint at an upcoming title, but it seems awfully unfamiliar.
