Given the fact that, after all, audio on a Mac system always sounds better than on a PC, the people over at Stem Innovation have just announced the launch of their Tandem USB Digital Desktop Speakers, designed specifically to be used with Apple's Mac notebook and desktop systems.

Tandem's elegant design features a sleek enclosure, cloth grille and black acrylic top, specifically created in order to complement any Mac system out there.

The company also points out that, in addition to the USB digital pathway that delivers “ideal audio throughput”, additional audio sources may be connected using the auxiliary audio port on the back.

Of course, this also means that these USB speakers will most likely work equally well with PCs and notebooks (other than Apple's, of course), because the technology is basically the same and enables a similar experience, regardless of the particular system one might decided to hook these things up to.

Tandem's high-performance speakers enable the main unit to be placed on either the left or right of a Mac notebook or desktop by taking advantage of a simple left/right swap switch.

Furthermore, a headphone port on the main unit makes the transition to personal listening quick and easy.

The speakers come equipped with Stem:Sonic iQ audio enhancement technology, featuring a custom configured DSP-enhanced amplifier, performance-tuned, bass-reflex ports and an optimized headphone audio output profile.

Plus, the Tandem pack 2.75-inch full-range drivers, that should play a fairly important role in providing a good level of audio.

Naturally, these Mac-only USB speakers have to bear the premium pricing that applies to most Apple products and accessories, and for this reason, they're selling for somewhere in the vicinity of 100 US dollars, which is just a tad too much for what these things can offer, all things considered.
