More HTC Android phones to come, a non-smartphone too

HTC has already been reported to be working on one Android-powered device that would come to the entry-level market segment, the HTC Click. Unlike the already available HTC Dream, Magic and Hero, the new phone coming from the Taiwanese company is reportedly expected to be a much cheaper one, and it has been spotted again into the wild, this time in a photo that surfaced on a Vietnamese website.

The HTC Click seems indeed targeted at the Android area, although it is not turned on, as its front plate shows the Android-required buttons, so the Google OS is expected to be packed under the hood. Besides the buttons, the new device also sports a giant navigation pad, different from the trackball that previous HTC Android phones included, and it has been stated to also include a 2.8-inch screen, though that still needs to be proven real.

The presence of the new HTC Click on the market, and especially on the lower-end areas, was somehow expected, as the company seems determined to come out with even more Android-powered phones, which will be aimed at different market segments. Although HTC accounts for the largest number of Windows Mobile handsets out there, its plans for Google's OS are big. According to the latest news on the Web, 30 percent of HTC's phones for this year should come with Android.

DigiTimes is the one that broke the news on the large number of devices running under the Google OS that HTC is planning, and also unveiled that a non-smartphone device was under development as well. The rumored phone should be a “high-profile 3G handset” and an “entry-level model” at the same time, while sporting touchscreen capabilities, and the TouchFlo 3D / Sense UI. It should be based on Qualcomm's BREW Mobile Platform, and it is expected to land sometime in September or October this year.
