It appears that a certain technology known as Intel Wireless HD is not the only one of its kind to grace the IT industry with its presence, as Philips seems to have devised a solution of its own.

Philips has long been a supplier of all sorts of multimedia devices, as well as accessories and companion products for them.

This, or course, extends to much more than TVs, DVD or Blu-ray players and all other things of the sort.

The company actually has a full line of video and audio products, although this only seems to have given it enough reason to release some new members for each.

Indeed, the newest press release that Philips issues shows new speakers and headphones, although one less than ordinary invention is described therein as well.

Said device goes by the name of Wireless HD Net Connect and, as its name implies, streams videos, games, Internet TV and anything else one likes from a laptop or desktop with an HDMI output.

It is plug-and-play-ready (no drivers have to be installed) and the price is of $299.99, or will be one 2011 comes around.

“Philips looks beyond the chip set to create consumer electronics that are lifestyle driven,” said Jacopo D’Alessandris, Head of Marketing for Philips Consumer Lifestyle.

“Advanced technology is a given. Design, functionality, ease of use – these qualities enable our products to enhance people’s entertainment experiences at home and on the go.”

This isn't the only object of this sort to come into view recently, as Belkin built the ScreenCast WiDi adapter, made to work for laptops equipped with the aforementioned Windows technology.

All that remains is for prospective buyers to make sure they have the needed personal computer and a Full HD-capable display, whether HDTV or monitor, without which the Wireless HD Net Connect is meaningless.
