It would appear that the number of 80Plus Platinum power supplies has begun to grow beyond what could be counted on the fingers of just one hand, with even be quiet! now joining the proceedings.

Like every other year, the Computex trade show is packed full of many different computing and hardware products.

Among them, naturally, power supplies are spread, here and there, some of them better than others, some in a league completely their own.

Apparently, the emphasis on energy efficiency has grown even stronger over the past year, leading to a noticeable increase in the number of power supplies bearing the highest 80Plus rating.

At one point, the 80Plus Gold was considered the highest standard, but 80Plus Platinum overshadows even that.

GeIL, Seasonic, and Huntkey, among others, all have at least one model of this sort, and it looks like be quiet! has also made one.

The product in question goes by the name of ProP10 and has an output of 850W, although one might say that the low power waste is not its greatest asset.

Indeed, while the efficiency of up to 94% is definitely a plus, the special ability of the ProP10 is that it can switch between single-rail and multi-rail operation (four 12V rails exist).

For those not up to speed, single-rail operation is for maximum performance, while multi-rail designs place more emphasis on safety.

Other than that, 9 PCI Express connections are present, meaning that NVIDIA SLI or AMD CrossFireX multi-GPU setups are actually encourages, not just supported.

Finally, the Silent Wings Technology allows the 135mm fan to work without making much noise, although the major asset is that the propeller doesn't spin until at least 150W have been consumed by the system. The rubber coating on the PSU edges just reduce leftover noise by lessening vibrations.
