Monsoon Multimedia Vulkano's content streaming solution has been around for quite a while now, but it seems that the company is ready to take things to a whole new level, as they've just introduced the Vulkano Flow, a device that, when connected to any set-top box, can stream high quality TV content to mobile devices inside or outside of the home. The Flow targets a very wide array of mobile products, including BlackBerry and Android smartphones and tablets, iPhones, iPads, Macs, PCs and soon Windows Phone 7 and Symbian devices, while also being extremely easy to setup and use.

In fact, after the device has been connected to a set-top box via a component or composite interface (up to 1080i resolutions supported), one will only have to download the Vulkano app in order to get mobile TV on their devices, wherever they might be, complete with an integrated electronic programming guide (EPG).

It's also important to point out that the Flow can stream video at H.264 and MPEG-4 standards at rates as low as 150kbps, and connects wirelessly through Vulkano's on board .11n WiFi to a home router.

"With over 270 million smartphones and tablets sold worldwide in 2010, analysts are calling 2011 the year of the smartphone and expect smartphones to make up 50 percent of all phones in use by the end of 2011," said Colin Stiles, EVP of sales and marketing at Monsoon.

"We have seen an amazing response to the full-featured Vulkanos, but many customers wanted an affordable TV streaming accessory for their smartphones and tablets. The Vulkano Flow enables them to watch their television programming during their commute, a business trip, family vacation or wherever they are regardless of their TV service provider," the company's rep concluded.

The Vulkano Flow will be sold as a mobile accessory for $99, starting this January, which means that users won't have to wait too much in order to get their hands on this very innovative streaming solution.
