Eager to have its customers enjoy online streaming services in addition to usually sources of multimedia, Netgear has announced the addition of the NeoTV 350 and 550, a pair of Full HD media players with LAN connectivity and other features.

Basically, media streaming has become quite popular, so makers of multimedia players and multi-feature displays have started to add network connectivity to their new products.

Also, hardware makers are quite careful in their designs, so as to provide both high performance and as wide a feature set as possible without adding unnecessary cost.

Netgear has, thus, revealed the existence of the NeoTV 350 and 550 Media Players which should start shipping sometime during the next two months.

The main difference between the two is that the NeoTV 550 has an eSATA port whereas its sibling doesn't.

As for what makes the products appealing, they not only have full support for Full HD 1,080p video playback, but also bring the benefits of Dolby Digital or DTS surround sound.

Also, the newcomers each include a SD slot and USB 2.0 connectivity, plus the aforementioned LAN, used when streaming from UPnP, DLNA or WMP11 networks.

What's more, the electronics automatically scan the networked and local devices and organize the movies, photos and music files by categories.

Not only that, but the movie soundtracks are delivered in HD 7.1 surround sound and the remote has shortcuts for ease of use.

Finally, the NeoTV 350 and NeoTV 550 have HDMI connectivity, as well as Component video outputs and DLNA support.

All in all, the electronics were built as versatile media players whose performance is complemented by convenience-enhancing functions, such as on the fly language selection and the possibility of playing Blu-ray media formats.

The NeoTV 350 has, unfortunately, not been priced, but the 550 will sell for $219.99.
