Same as Modern Warfare 2

DICE, the developer of the long running Battlefield series, has announced that two more maps for Bad Company 2 are set to be released on March 30 on all the consoles on which the game is available and on the PC. The good news is that the two fresh combat fields will be offered for free to all those who have bought a new copy of Battlefield Bad Company 2 and registered the VIP code offered inside.

Arica Harbor, the first of the new maps, will be Conquest oriented and will see the United States assault a well fortified Russian base.

The other map will be called Laguna Pera and will be centered on the Rush mode, with a dam at the center of a valley, which must be protected by United States forces. The maps will also be available for those who pick up the game used, but they will have to pay a yet unannounced price for them.

KM Troedsson, who is the executive producer working on Battlefield Bad Company 2, wrote on the official company blog that “There will be future paid downloadable content as well but these packs will focus on expanding other parts of the game experience rather than the selection of maps available for the basic game modes. We're dedicated to taking care of this product for a long time - helping you avoid 'mapathy' without getting nickel-and-dimed.”

This seems to be a direct attack towards the way Infinity Ward and Activision handle the launch of new maps and even game modes. Recently, the two companies announced that on March 30, the first new content for Modern Warfare 2, called The Stimulus Package, would arrive for those playing on the Xbox 360 home console. PC and PlayStation 3 players will get it at a later date for a yet unspecified price.
