Increase the number of LiMo phones to 50

Global consortium of leading companies from the mobile industry LiMo Foundation announced today at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona a series of new LiMo compliant handsets delivered to the market by manufacturers ELSE, NEC, and Panasonic Mobile Communications. According to the Foundation, the launch of the new devices brings the total number of LiMo compliant handsets announced until now to fifty.

All the new handsets were designed so as to feature next-generation functionality and reliable performance, as well as sleek, sophisticated device designs. “We welcome the arrival of these innovative new devices which attest to the richness and versatility of LiMo Platform,” said Morgan Gillis, executive director of the LiMo Foundation. “The continued growth of LiMo devices is further endorsement of LiMo’s vision, mission, and technologies.”

The list of new LiMo handsets announced today includes three models from NEC for NTT DOCOMO, the docomo STYLE series N-01B, docomo PRIME series N-02B and docomo STYLE series N-03B. The first of them comes with an 8.1MP camera and in an array of colors; the second includes a 12.2MP camera and high-speed connectivity for rapid image uploading, while the third comes as a waterproof devices with a 3.2-inch WVGA screen, and an 8.1 MP camera. The LiMo devices from Panasonic for NTT DOCOMO are the docomo PRIME series P-01B, the docomo PRIME series P-02B and the docomo SMART series P-03B. The first of the three comes with great multimedia technologies, including audio, video, games, and other entertainment, the second delivers high-fashion style in a variety of colors, while the third comes with a great deal of productivity features.

The ELSE INTUITION handset from ELSE Ltd. is another LiMo device, which is meant to deliver a new user experience, as well as advanced functionality and ease and simplicity of use. “These newest handsets demonstrate the effectiveness of the LiMo Platform as a springboard for innovation and differentiation in an increasingly crowded marketplace,” said Kiyohito Nagata of NTT DOCOMO, chairman of LiMo Foundation. “The market-proven technologies found in the LiMo Platform represent unequaled opportunity for extended value for the entire mobile ecosystem – from operators to handset vendors to mobile consumers.”
