Korean companies LG Electronics and Samsung have been engaged for quite a while in an all-out war over who's got the widest or slimmest display, both trying to constantly up the ante, with LG being the latest to do so with the release of their E90 line of LED monitors, which the company touts to be their slimmest ever.

The new monitors will indeed feature an ultra-slim bezel, just 7.2-mm thick, this very serious reduction in size being possible due to the fact that the power supply and the socket connecting the monitor with the PC have been placed on the back of the supporting stand, an innovation called EZ-cabling.

Apparently, the first E90 model to make its way onto the market will be the 21.5-inch E2290V model, delivering full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels), a response time of around 2 ms, making the device quite OK for gaming purposes as well, as well as 250 cd/m2 typical brightness, a dynamic contrast ratio of 10,000,000:1, and D-Sub, DVI and HDMI inputs.

“The E90 is the result of advanced technology and beautiful design coming together in perfect alignment,” said Si-hwan Park, vice president of LG’s monitor division.

“With its revolutionary features in terms of design and picture quality, the E90 is the leading example of the company’s “SUPER LED” monitor line that is setting new benchmarks for style and performance,” added Mr. Park.

LG also informs us that their brand-new E90 ultra-thin LED monitors will be available starting this month in select markets, although official details regarding what markets precisely we're talking about, as well as the price we should expect to pay for this thing were not provided, unfortunately (unofficially, though, it seems that pricing for the aforementioned 21.5-inch unit in the European markets will be set at 330 Euro).
