Just as more and more people are wondering what BioWare will be revealing at the Spike VGAs on December 11 the team at the developer that is working on Dragon Age 2 continues to offer details about the action role playing game set to arrive in 2011, unveiling a new character that can join the player, a close quarters fighter called Aveline Vallen.

The description on the official site for Dragon Age 2 says, “The daughter of an exiled chevalier, Aveline is not the knight her father wished her to be. Although fully trained in chivalrous combat, she was raised in the shadow of a lost life and will not lose another for the sake of honor. Protecting her adopted home of Kirkwall becomes a chosen duty, not a privileged calling. “

The website also hints at the motives of the character and at what the gamer might need to do to earn her trust, adding “The people she stands for will not be wasted on lost causes or protecting the foolish from themselves. Pride can be bandaged like any other wound—when threats are dead and everyone is safely home.”

Dragon Age 2 has the potential to be a more streamlined experience than the first game in the series while also delivering a more complex experience, with the story told in flashbacks and covering a bigger time frame than in the first Dragon Age.

The developers at BioWare are also aiming to make the game more fluid when the player engages in battles, with each input from the player leading to something significant happening in the game.

BioWare claims that it is not making the experience simpler in order to suit console gaming more.

The official launch date for Dragon Age 2 is March 8 in the United States and March 11 on the European market, with gamers able to pick it up for the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3 or the PC.
