Bungie and Microsoft have offered small bits of information on the upcoming Mythic Map Pack set to be delivered for Halo 3 before the official release of Halo 3: ODST, the expansion pack scheduled for later this year. The information appeared originally on an Xbox blog from Austria, but Bungie is now offering a lot of high resolution screenshots taken from the maps. Here's what we know at the moment on three of the maps.

Sandbox, which can be gazed at in the image attached to this article, is said to be designed specifically for those players who are interested in vehicular combat and Forge creations. Assembly will be set in a Covenant Scarab factory and will be perfectly symmetrical, which makes it very suitable to be used for games that are objective based, like Capture the Flag. Orbital will be a small size map set on the Quito Docking Station and is best played in smaller numbers or even one on one for special cat and mouse games with that rival you really want to toy with.

At the moment, there's no word from Bungie or from Microsoft on when the maps in the Mythic Pack make their way to players, but we know that all those who get a special Limited Edition of Halo Wars should have a chance to get all the maps earlier than other Halo fans. Great idea on cross marketing, Microsoft! Make people pay extra for a real time strategy game in order to get maps for a first person shooter.

Halo Wars is coming on February 27 in Europe and on March 3 in North America for players who are gaming on an Xbox 360. The real time strategy title will tell the story of the war between the UNSC and the Covenant before the events of the three Halo shooters.
