So says Ensemble representative

The Halo franchise is one of the most popular ones to date, despite the fact that it hasn't been out for a very long time, like other iconic series as Mario or Zelda. That hasn't stopped a lot of people from eagerly anticipating anything remotely connected to the futuristic shooters set in the Halo universe.

The series, made by Bungie and currently owned by Microsoft, is now gearing up for two major releases, which will take it to a whole new level in terms of innovation and story. The first one will be a completely new image of the Halo universe, as it will be a Real Time Strategy game, set twenty years before the events in the first title, Halo: Combat Evolved. Entitled Halo Wars, this will be the last project of the Age of Empires developer, Ensemble Studios, which will be dismantled after the game launches.

But it seems that the team might still have something to work on, as, during a preview for the upcoming strategy title, Jason Pace, the lead producer of the game, revealed that a future DLC (Downloadable Content) pack might be launched for the Xbox 360 title, via the Xbox Live Marketplace online service. But don't start thinking about this possibility just yet, as the executive highlighted the fact that it wasn't something written in stone and that things might change, the same as with a possible sequel, on which Pace declined to comment.

“Additional downloadable content is something we’re looking in to. We are committed to supporting the franchise,” he said, but added that “there’re no definite plans yet.” Pace then revealed that Microsoft was very keen to see how the game did in terms of sales and then decide its fate and whether it would receive a DLC or a potential sequel.

Look forward to the game at the end of February and beginning of March, when it will be launched. Also, a demo will soon be available for Xbox 360 users, and details about it can be found here.
