In what seems to be a rather unexpected piece of news, we find out that the development of Disciples III is going as planned. Yes, it seems that the game is almost ready and Akella are reporting that the title will be released during the third quarter of 2008. Probably sometime in November, since a black (and quite silly) poster with an eye drawn in the middle, told us about Disciples: "Watch Out! 23 November".

Disciples III: Renaissance, because that's the game's full name, already has its storyline completed. We should expect 19 missions, 6 per each race and one big final one. Hopefully that's just the campaign and there will still be other maps to play - otherwise it would be kind of a waste for all the units that are prepared for this one: over 150 pieces!

Only the three well known races will be available for now - The Empire, the Legions of the Damned and the Elven Alliance and, unlike the last games in the series, all cities, locations, creatures and game assets will be represented in full 3D. Also, we'll have a visual representation of the character's equipped armor, weapons and artifacts and our hero will benefit from a new upgrade system which allows us to assign attributes to the leader. Overall, the same game so many people loved, with minor changes here and there (regarding the gameplay) and a fully new set of graphics. If Disciples III: Renaissance will do all these right, there will be no reasons for complaint.

While I still consider that this game looks too much like Heroes of Might and Magic V, people have always compared these two titles and the battle was, unofficially, won by HOMM. Maybe, somewhere deep inside, Disciples wants to rise and shine and finally prove that it is better than, at least, the fifth iteration of Heroes. We'll have to wait till around November to find out what's going to happen.
