New screenshots have been released and similarities arise

Games in the Disciples series have had a great deal of success, even though everybody considered them to be similar in many ways to Heroes of Might and Magic. But, except the fact that they were all turn based strategies, they didn't have many similarities. Now, things seem to change a little bit.

New screenshots have been released and, from what we see, uhm... it's just another Heroes of Might and Magic game! This is really strange, since Nival has nothing to do with the game's development, which is handled by Akella (still, they are a Russian studio). And no, it doesn't look like the highly acclaimed HoMM3, but like the latest in the franchise because, like every self-respected game, Disciples 3 will now have full 3D graphics.

Despite that, D3: Renaissance has a "to be announced" release date, but no hints about other races. In fact, you will only have to choose from 3 races - The Empire, The Legions of the Damned, and the Noble Elves - but probably expansions are already planned and we'll have at least 4 playable races sometime before Disciples 4.

Now... the game's developers have said nothing about such things, but they seem pretty obvious from the screenshots: remember all the other Disciples games where the monsters never moved during a battle? Yeah, it was a Disciples trademark. Well... from what we've seen in the pictures, all the creatures will run around the battlefield, HoMM style. Even the monster cards at the bottom of the screen, the ones that tell you when a specific creature will attack, they're all there!

Now, don't get us wrong, we have nothing against Heroes of Might and Magic, nor Diciples 3: Renaissance. However, we would've liked them to be two distinct games, at least like Heroes 3 (or 4), that was compared to Disciples 1 or 2. But soon we'll see if these newly released screenshots were right or not. When? To be announced.
