Out of nowhere we'll get from Ubisoft a massively multiplayer online game built in the Might and Magic world. Yes, you've heard it right! The turn based strategy is turning into a MMO starting Spring 2008. The conservative players, however, shouldn't be disappointed - the series will continue to expand for the PC, while the MMO Heroes of Might and Magic will be just a bonus for the fans

And what a bonus! It will be free to play. Yes, that's right - the HOMM5 MMO is absolutely free to play and, even more, you won't have to download anything. Of course, there is a catch. You still need something in order to enter the online world (or at least to enter the Beta stage) and that is a "hidden" CD Key of Heroes of Might and Magic Complete Edition that just got released. In other words, you'll still have to spend some money, but not for the online version, though.

After this long introduction, let's get straight to what matters most: Heroes of Might and Magic Kingdoms is the name you want to hear. The game, as strange as it sounds, is a Web browser game, so don't expect to see exactly the same graphics you enjoyed in HOMM5 (or at least that's the impression you get from the very few released screenshots). However, the graphics look incredibly well and I, for one, found them very similar to the HOMM 3 game.

"This is a new type of game for Ubisoft, one that allows you to jump into a rich and complex universe just with your Web browser," said Serge Hasco?t, Chief Creative Officer. "Heroes of Might and Magic Kingdoms will open a wide door to the Might and Magic universe, allowing players to immerse themselves within it unlike ever before."

This means that thousands of players will battle for supremacy in the Might and Magic world. We've yet to find out if it will be divided into regions (the classic Heroes maps) or everybody will be placed in the same really huge world. And, of course, what happens if a player leaves the game? There are lots of questions right now and Ubisoft hasn't answered them yet. For the luckiest of you, the Beta testing that is about to begin will be like an answer to all of your prayers. For the rest of us, Spring 2008 will be the time we'll enjoy Heroes of Might and Magic Kingdoms.
