Still a platformer, but a 3D one at that

The game is essentially a remake of Rondo of Blood with 3D graphics over the original's 2D gameplay, also including a port of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. The name of the game: Footbaaaalll I'm kidding, it's Catlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles.

The Xbox version of Castlevania: Simphony of the Night is still due for release some time soon on Xbox Live Arcade and while the only information we have so far about the new PSP title Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles is graphics concerned (not many other changes having been made), here are some facts about the very game it takes after.

Castlevania: Rondo of Blood is more of an action-oriented Castlevania game much like the early titles that involved a more linear approach to playing through the game, so the new title will basically have the same strong and appealing platforming structure. You progress through each stage defeating smaller enemies and performing pinpoint platforming-style jumps and then face off with a deadly boss at the end of each area. The game is considered to be the best of the Castlevania series and has become increasingly more difficult to find over the past few years.

So, what Konami is basically doing is that they're updating the game from the ground up, including better cut scenes, improved audio, and a fresh coat of polygon graphics to make everything nice and smooth. As PSP fans have waited a long time to even get the first Castlevania titles, Konami's aiming high exploiting the handheld's potential. It will make everyone's delight whether they are PSP fans or Castlevania series fans and it's due out in autumn.
