Apple has released the MacBook Air Bluetooth Firmware Update 1.0. You can grab the latest version of your Bluetooth firmware by visiting Apple's official web site or through the Software Update system preference. MacBook Air Bluetooth Firmware Update 1.0 should not be mistaken for MacBook Air EFI Firmware Update 1.0, who is friends with these babies.

In typical Apple manner, the Cupertino-based computer and software manufacturer falls short of explaining exactly what the new Bluetooth firmware for your MacBook Air does:

"The MacBook Air Bluetooth Firmware Update 1.0 should be installed on all MacBook Air Systems. The updater application will be installed in the /Applications/Utilities folder.

To complete the bluetooth firmware update process, please follow the instructions in the updater application(/Applications/Utilities/MacBook Air Bluetooth Firmware Update.app). The updater will launch automatically."

That's pretty much every aspect of the MacBook Air Bluetooth Firmware Update 1.0. explained by Apple.

As with firmware updates for all MacBooks (not necessarily the Air) users must be sure to plug their laptop into an AC power adapter before they start. This prevents system damage and... other bad stuff (like there's anything worse than "system damage").

If downloaded via Software Update, the update will be installed in /Applications/Utilities and labeled MacBook Air Bluetooth Firmware Update.app. It will automatically start. However, if you download the update manually, your web browser (Safari) will notify you that there is an application in the image. You will need to click OK to continue. If "Open safe files after downloading" is checked in Safari preferences, a disk image will appear on your desktop. If not, you will need to locate the MacBookAir Bluetooth Update in your Downloads folder and double-click it to mount the image.

MacBook Air users should also note that they mustn't restart, sleep, or power off the laptop while the update is doing its stuff. When the update is successfully installed, you will see a "Your computer's Bluetooth firmware is up to date" message. Your Bluetooth connection is probably going to work a tad bit smoother.
