Before going into the SSD business, AMP (Active Media Products) has managed to make a name for itself by rolling out all sorts of cool-looking USB flash drives, each having a rather unusual shape, combined with fairly large storage capabilities. And now, the company's back with yet another product of this type, namely the Mini Red Pop Can USB Flash Drive, that looks just like a soda can on the outside, but stores one's precious data on the inside. The flash drives measure merely 1.7 inches tall and 0.8 inches in diameter, while the volume of the Pop Can drive is less than half an ounce, or about 96% smaller than a real 12-ounce pop can. Furthermore, the case is manufactured from a special polymer, meaning that it will provide a fairly OK level of resilience during normal operation, not to mention at least a basic level of resistance against shocks and bumps. The Pop Can USB Drive's very small form factor means it won't add bulk to a keychain, and it will easily slide into a pocket, while the red finish recalls vintage cola colors. The Pop Can Drive includes a strong steel keychain and clip for attaching the drive to a backpack or keyring, because that's the best manner in which one can “wear” this thing in order to draw some attention to yourselves. Active Media Products VP of Sales, Jerry Thomson, commented, "so do we call it a soda can, a cola can or a pop can? Whatever you call it, this is one cool USB drive that will make an excellent Christmas gift." And it won't be an expensive gift, either, since we're only talking about US$11 for the 4GB model and S$20 for the 8GB version, which are some pretty OK price points, all things considered.
