While press releases have been revealing a whole slew of more and more unusual USB flash drives, Active media still hopes to play on the 'unusual' factor with its newest creation, namely a flash drive that looks like a bullet.

While most flash drive focus on the basic functionality, and on actual capacity and, of course, transfer speed, some of them go beyond the norm.

Thus, there are such things as rugged drives that can survive underwater or in other harsh environments, even withstand being run over by multi-ton trucks.

On the other end of the spectrum are flash drives that boast a certain design, inspired by a certain film or cartoon characters, etc.

Active Media Products can be said to have tried something different with the gold Bullet Drive.

Simply put, it is made to look like a 50 caliber bullet and has a golden color, even though its casing is actually made of Aluminum.

The company has created two versions, one with 4 GB of storage and one with an internal capacity of 8 GB.

Both of them are waterproof and shock resistant, these attributes essentially giving them a certain degree of ruggedness.

The only thing that might take away from their speeding bullet allure is the fact that they do not support the SuperSpeed Usb 3.0 standard, settling for USB 2.0 instead.

Still, they are hot plug-and-play-ready, come with a key chain and key ring, have a data retention of 10 years and dimensions of 3.0 x 0.6 inches (76 x 16 mm).

"Our goal is to constantly reinvent the USB drive, making a unique combination of style and functionality." stated Active Media Products VP of Sales, Jerry Thomson.

The 4 GB and 8 GB Gold Bullet flash drives sell for $12 and $21, respectively, and are detailed on their product page, located here.
