ACCESS CO., LTD., a worldwide provider of software technologies to the mobile market, announced on Tuesday that its NetFront Browser was the standard solution that was shipped with most of the mobile phones in the United States, as well as through operators in the top five European markets (France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy and Spain). According to the company, there are more handsets on the market that feature its NetFront Browser than any other mobile Internet browser, based on an analysis from February 2009 on the handsets offered by top-tier operators and on the device ownership data from comScore's MobiLens1 research.

“Our MobiLens research confirms that ACCESS' NetFront Browser leads the pack when it comes to availability on handset models,” said Mark Donovan, senior analyst, comScore. “Internet connectivity is a necessary mobile phone feature. As consumers continue to rely on mobile phones to keep them connected, we anticipate the use of mobile phone browsers will continue to grow in the coming years.”

comScore's research refers to carriers such as AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon from the United States, as well as Orange, Telefonica, T-Mobile and Vodafone in Europe. The NetFront Browser from ACCESS can be found in 27 percent of all mobile phones available at the moment on the US market, which is the highest market share any vendor's mobile browser has, and is also present in 30 percent of the handsets currently available in the top five European markets.

The NetFront Browser can support almost any operating system on the market, as well as almost any processor, a feature that allowed it to mark the record of installation in handsets from major manufacturers and mobile operators. According to the company, the deployments of its browser in January 2009 rose above 732 million, while the solution was included in more than 1710 different device models.

“For more than 20 years we have helped develop and deliver technologies that introduced the Internet to a new generation of mobile devices and consumers,” said Tomihisa Kamada, president and co-CEO of ACCESS. “We fulfill the global consumers' need for devices that provide a connected digital lifestyle. This holds true for users of mobile phones, digital TVs, set-top boxes, digital cameras, automobile navigation systems, mobile handhelds, game consoles – all of which NetFront Browser supports.”

At the same time, ACCESS' NetFront Browser can be found on a wider range of devices, other than mobile phones, and has been included in solutions coming from market leaders such as LG, Palm, Samsung and Sanyo. A complete list of the devices supported by the browser can be found here.
