Need of Speed: The Run, Electronic Arts' brand new racing game, has just received some new details, as part of a Q&A done by developers with fans of the franchise.

EA isn't taking its foot off the gas with its NFS franchise, as after last year's NFS: Hot Pursuit and NFS: Shift 2 Unleashed two months ago, the company revealed the brand-new Need for Speed: The Run.

We've heard quite a lot of great things about the new racing game in the official announcement and from EA itself a few days ago, but now, the developer, Black Box, posted a Q&A feature on the NFS website.

In it, a variety of questions were answered, including the reasoning behind using the new Frostbite 2 engine, made by fellow EA-owned studio DICE.

"One of our goals with Need for Speed The Run was to set the bar for visuals higher than any previous Need for Speed, and working with DICE’s revolutionary Frostbite 2.0 engine, we’re able to do that. The visual quality in Need for Speed The Run is unmatched among action racing games."

The developer also cleared some things about the timing of NFS: The Run, saying that the studio has worked on it for the last two years.

"Black Box was the company that put Need for Speed on the map, and has been developing Need for Speed The Run for more than two years already. Even though we’re more than six months away from release, we have some groundbreaking gameplay footage to show our fans at E3.

"Currently, there are three studios working on Need for Speed games, with Black Box and Criterion focusing on action racing experiences, and Slightly Mad Studios working on adrenalin-pumping simulations."

The Autolog online component, also developed by DICE for last year's Hot Pursuit and used by Shift 2 Unleashed, will once again be featured by The Run, but EA promises that a lot of new things were added, in order to making racing against others that much more simple and addictive.

Last but not least, NFS: The Run will feature the same great car physics seen in previous action racing NFS games, meaning it's not going to be hardcore simulator like Shift 2 Unleashed.

Need for Speed: The Run is set to appear for the PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii and Nintendo 3DS on November 15.
