The FBI have released a video of the Monday, September 16 attack on the D.C. Navy Yard, featuring shooter Aaron Alexis.

They believe that Alexis has carried on the attack out of a delusional fear of being the target of low-frequency waves. Officials found a message on his laptop describing his state a few days before the shooting.

"Ultra-low frequency attack is what I've been subject to for the last three months, and to be perfectly honest that is what has driven me to this," it reads.

He bought a Remington 870 shotgun and ammo on Saturday, September 14. He also acquired a hacksaw on Saturday.

Assistant FBI Director Valerie Parlave details that he has not targeted anyone in particular duing the shooting, USA Today reports.

According to the FBI press release, he pulled up in a parking garage near Building 197 in a rented blue Toyota Prius with New York plates.

He entered the building with a backpack on his shoulders at 8:08 a.m., headed for the fourth floor and went to the men's bathroom. He also had a clipboard in his hands at that point.

The first victim was shot just instants after, at 8:16 a.m. One minute later, someone called 911 – several other calls would ensue.

He then used the stairs to get to the third floor, descended to floor number one and climbed back to the third floor. That is where he was shot and killed by police at 9:25 a.m.

The video shows Alexis ducking and hiding behind walls as if he is executing a military maneuver. Authorities suggest that he might have been aware of being on a suicide mission.

He scribbled "End to the torment!'' and "Not what ya'll say'' on his sawed off shotgun, as well as "Better off this way!''
